How to wash the clothes of coronavirus patients

12/02/2022

Our country’s pandemic situation is deteriorating, and many people’s family members are sadly infected. Do you know how to wash a patient’s clothes?

If you have a patient or suspect patient with Covid-19 in your home, you must wash the patient’s garments according to normal operating procedures to avoid getting “recruited.”

Before washing the patient’s garments, the clothes must be placed in a sealed container or bag, according to the precise guidelines published by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM).

When washing clothes, everyone must wear a mask and disposable gloves. You should soak your garments in hot water, according to the Ministry of Health (60 to 90 degrees Celsius).

The most crucial thing is to use a strip cleaning solution that is both sterilising and anti-virus.

Steps to wash the patient’s clothes in detail

Step 1: Put the patient’s clothing in an airtight bag or container until it is time to wash the clothing.

Step 2: Do not put the patient’s clothes together with the family’s clothes.

Step 3: Always wear a mask and disposable gloves when washing the patient’s clothing.

Step 4: Do not shake when holding the patient’s clothes to prevent the virus from spreading into the air.

Step 5: Wash the patient’s clothing with water and detergent.

Step 6: It is recommended to use hot water to wash the patient’s clothes. The temperature of the hot water can be between 60°C and 90°C.
