15/02/2022

A certain cell phone equipped with a certain eight-core processor, I believe we will see similar content in many cell phone advertising, so how exactly should I look at the phone processor?

Generally speaking, cell phone processors will be divided into 2 levels, that is, low-end processors and high-end processors, then exactly how to identify the level of cell phone processor?

Currently there are 5 main brands of processors in the cell phone market, namely Qualcomm Snapdragon, MediaTek, HiSilicon Kirin, Samsung Exynos and Apple A series processors.

In the case of Qualcomm Snapdragon, the low and mid-range processors are the 600 and 700 series, that is, Snapdragon 780G, Snapdragon 778G Plus, Snapdragon 768G and so on. Qualcomm’s high-end processors are the 800 series, which are Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Snapdragon 888 Plus, Snapdragon 888, and so on.

MediaTek (MTK) processors, low-end processors are Tiangui 820, Tiangui 800, Helio G95 and so on. MediaTek’s high-end processors are Tiangui 9000, Tiangui 1200 and Tiangui 1100.

The low end processors are Kirin 820, Kirin 810 and so on. As for the high-end processors, there are Kirin 9000, Kirin 990 and so on.

Samsung processors, high-end processors are Exynos 1080, Exynos 990 and so on. Apple’s cell phone processor is relatively easy to understand, the latest processor is A15, before there are A14, A13, A12 and so on.

We should focus on the processor of the phone when buying a phone, not just the shape of the phone. This is the way to buy a cost-effective phone.

When you see a phone with a low-end processor that costs RM3,300, you really have to consider whether you should start. Unless the phone has other great features or very impressive new technology, then it’s a different story.

Here we bring you the ranking of the overall performance of cell phone processors (as of mid-January 2022).
