How to find out the right tyre pressure for your car’s tyres?

17/04/2022

Every car has a clear indication of the manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressure. Usually you will find a copy of your car’s standard tyre pressure gauge next to the driver’s door. This gauge will clearly show how much air should be in the front and rear wheels. However, this will depend on your individual circumstances, such as road conditions, weather conditions etc.

Some cars will only show one tyre pressure, i.e. the same standard tyre pressure is used regardless of how many passengers are in the car. However, there are also cars that clearly show the standard tyre pressure for one or two passengers and the required tyre pressure for three or four passengers.

When inflating your tyres, you also need to be aware of the units used, i.e. kPa or PSI. Whether kPa or PSI, the volume of air pressure is the same, the only difference is the number of units. 1 kPa = 0.145038 PSI.

If you don’t know how to use a pump from a petrol station, you can also buy a portable pump yourself. Portable pumps are easy to carry and very simple to use. You can easily find one through Shopee or Lazada.
