Hospital Sungai Buloh removes the restriction on food deliveries.

After receiving criticism from the general public and Kuching MP Dr. Kelvin Yii, Hospital Sungai Buloh decided to rescind a decision limiting online meal delivery services for patients and staff.

The change was made less than two days after the prohibition was announced by the hospital’s administration in an internal message on Tuesday.

With immediate effect, the management of Hospital Sungai Buloh officially revokes all restrictions outlined in the memo dated August 9.

The ban was questioned by Dr. Yii, who referred to the choice as “illogical and unfair”. He said that the Health Ministry has a duty to safeguard the wellbeing of its workforce rather than leaving this up to the private sector, saying that the restriction would have had a significant negative impact on hospital employees working overnight shifts because the cafeteria would be closed.

Previously, the hospital used the appearance of bugs that was impairing ward hygiene levels, as well as increasing complaints of food waste and rubbish left “unmanaged,” to support the restriction.
