If you have received an SMS from unifi informing you that your internet speed has been upgraded, but you don’t see any significant improvement when you measure your speed, here’s what you can do.

Telekom Malaysia (TM)’s unifi broadband service will upgrade the speed of its existing subscribers free of charge. The process of upgrading the speed of the internet will be automated, and there is no need for subscribers to manually apply for the upgrade. The monthly subscription fee will remain unchanged after the upgrade.

Existing subscribers who have signed up for the 100Mbps package will be upgraded to 300Mbps free of charge, 300Mbps subscribers will be upgraded to 500Mbps free of charge, 500Mbps subscribers will be upgraded to 800Mbps free of charge, and 800Mbps subscribers will be upgraded to 1Gbps free of charge. all subscribers who have already upgraded their speeds will be notified by SMS from unifi.

If you have received the SMS notification from unifi but found no significant increase in internet speed when you measure the speed, you can try to turn off the Modem and Router for 30 seconds and then turn them on again. After that, you can try to measure the speed and you will find that the speed will change.

It is worth mentioning that you will get different internet speeds when speed testing with 2.4Ghz network and 5Ghz network. Generally speaking, the 2.4Ghz network is more capable of penetrating walls, though the internet speed is slower. As for 5Ghz, it is weaker to penetrate the wall, though the internet speed is faster.

If you are measuring the speed close to the Router, you can choose 5Ghz network, while you can choose 2.4Ghz when measuring the speed far away from the Router.
