Whether it is a Credit Card or a Debit Card, there is an expiration date and users need to replace the card with a new one before the expiration date, otherwise they will not be able to withdraw, swipe or transfer money.
To know the expiration date of your bank card, you just need to check the Valid Thru on the front of your bank card and you will see a set of 4-digit numbers, such as 02/22 or 12/21. 02/22 means the card will expire in February 2022, while 12/21 means the card will expire in December 2021.
The Debit Card is generally valid for 7 years and can be renewed for free, one year before or after the expiration date. Credit cards are valid for 4 years.
Some banks will automatically mail a new card to the customer, while others will require the customer to renew it themselves.
