The Ministry of Health plans to launch a large-scale free health screening program (Saringan Kesihatan Besar-besaran) in July this year.
According to Health Minister Khairy, the Ministry of Health will launch a large-scale free health screening program for 1.5 million people, targeting groups at high risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) who have not undergone medical checkups.
The Ministry of Health will provide free medical checkups for these groups and will prescribe medication for these groups, such as those with high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, etc., in order to curb the deterioration of the disease.
The free health screening program will be conducted in government hospitals and private clinics, and will also use a model of health care workers going to the target group. The Ministry of Health understands that it is difficult for the elderly to go to hospitals or clinics for health check-ups, so it is important for health care workers to reach out to these groups.
According to information from the Ministry of Health, non-communicable diseases are very serious in our country and many people suffer from heart disease, diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure. In fact, people can avoid these NCDs by simply changing their habits and attitudes, such as controlling their diet and exercising.
The government earlier launched the PeKa B40 free medical checkup program, a program that was expected to provide free medical checkups to 4.9 million low-income groups, although the number of participants ended up being unsatisfactory.
