The Ministry of Health will approve the vaccine for children under the age of 12 for COVID-19 vaccine in 2022.
According to the Ministry of Health, children under the age of 12 will have to wait until 2022 to receive the vaccine, as only the Pfizer vaccine is currently available for children under the age of 12 and is awaiting approval in the European Union and the United States.
Pfizer expects to submit data on Pfizer vaccines for children under 12 years of age to the Malaysian Pharmacy Board by the end of this year. The data will be evaluated and approved by the Malaysian Pharmacy Board.
It is understood that the vaccine formulation for children under 12 years of age is different from that for adults and therefore requires approval from the Malaysian Pharmacy Board and the Drug Control Board. A total of 5.9 million children in Malaysia will be vaccinated against coronary disease, which will involve about 11.8 million doses of the vaccine.
The Ministry of Health is currently actively promoting the vaccination of adolescents, as well as the booster dose for people of senior citizens.
