The first Monday of June is designated as the birthday of the Head of State, and in 2022, it falls on June 6!
Since last year, the government has set the birthday of the head of state on the first Monday of June, which previously fell on the first Saturday of June. However, during 2018 and 2019, in order to avoid the fasting month of June, the government set the head of state’s birthday on September 9 every year.
It is worth mentioning that the birthday of the head of state is an official date, not the actual birthday of the head of state. On the day of the Head of State’s birthday, there is a flag parade, an investiture and investiture ceremony at the National Palace, and the Head of State publicly recognizes people who have contributed to society.
The Head of State’s Birthday is a national public holiday and a statutory holiday, and all government departments, schools, banks and other state-run institutions in Malaysia will be closed on the day of the Head of State’s Birthday. As for the private sector, employers are also required to give their employees the day off or pay them as per the Public Holidays Act.
Last year, the head of state’s birthday fell on June 5 in 2021, June 6 in 2022, June 5 in 2023, June 3 in 2024, June 2 in 2025 and June 1 in 2026.
