A man from Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, was left incredulous after spending 4,400 Chinese Yuan (approximately 2,799 MYR) on a Gucci T-Shirt at the brand’s counter, only to discover that the sleeve color faded after just two days of wearing and washing the garment with plain water.
The man purchased the men’s T-shirt at the Gucci counter in Hangzhou Tower Shopping Mall, according to his account. He saw that the green margins of the sleeves had faded and that some of the white areas had become discolored with green after washing them.
He took the shirt back to the counter for repairs, and after 20 days, he received the garment back, apparently repaired, and was told that the fading issue would not reoccur. However, after washing the shirt again, he discovered that it was still faded.
Frustrated, he contacted Gucci’s customer care, who advised him to take the garment to a professional dry-cleaning facility rather than washing it himself.
This explanation was unacceptable to the man, who claimed to have purchased numerous Gucci garments and had never experienced fading after washing. As a result, he wanted a refund or replacement for the T-shirt from Gucci.
Gucci has stated that they would engage with both the consumer and the store to help resolve the situation.
