If you are planning to buy a car, now is the best time!
Finance Minister Tunku Zafrul reminded people who are planning to buy a car that the government’s sales tax exemption will end on June 30, which means there are still four months left.
After July 1, the government will resume collecting sales tax on cars and prices will increase.
Under the sales tax exemption, locally assembled vehicles (CKD) are entitled to a 100% sales tax exemption. As for fully assembled imported (CBU) vehicles, they are entitled to a 50% sales tax exemption.
The Myvi and Proton X50 are the most popular vehicles in the country, and you may have to wait 3 to 6 months to get your car if you place an order now. Those who plan to buy Myvi or Proton X50 should think carefully.
