The government will distribute BKM from 2022 onwards and eligible persons can receive up to RM2,500.
According to the announcement issued by the Ministry of Finance, the BKM will be open for application from January 1 to 31, 2022. Eligible persons will receive their first payment in March.
Families with a monthly income of RM2,500 or below will receive RM1,000 if they have no children, RM1,500 for 1 to 2 children and RM2,000 for 3 children or more.
Families with a monthly income of RM2,501 to RM5,00 will receive RM400 for no children, RM600 for 1 to 2 children and RM800 for 3 children or more.
Single persons of happy age (income RM5,000 or below) aged 60 years or above are eligible for RM600. Single persons aged 21 to 59 years earning up to RM2,500 are eligible for RM350.
The BKM Grant is targeted to assist needy groups such as low income single parent families, and families of senior citizens aged 60 years or above who have children to support. These groups are eligible for an additional RM500 and RM300.
Here is an example, Xiao Li is a single mother with 3 children and her monthly income is below RM2,500, in this case she will receive the original RM2,000 plus RM500 for single parent families, she will receive RM2,500 in total.
Here is a second example, Hong is 65 years old, her husband is still alive, she has 3 children to take care of and her income is less than RM2,500, in this case, she will get the original RM2,000 plus RM300 for a happy-age family, she will get RM2,300 in total.
