According to the Minister for Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, government is currently considering a reduction in the retail ceiling price for rapid antigen test kits from the current RM19.90 to RM10.00.
The Omicron outbreak in the country has led to a shortage of kits on the market and the Ministry of Trade and Consumer Affairs will be actively monitoring and addressing the shortage of supply.
As of 10 March, the Malaysian Medical Devices Authority (MDA) has approved 125 rapid test kits that have been proven to be useful for testing for coronary diseases.
The kits available on the market are generally available in nasal, oral and dual sample versions, and people are urged to read the instructions carefully when purchasing the kits so that they can more accurately test for a diagnosis.
