The government is expected to open the application for free tablet computers for higher education students on April 15.
The government is expected to open applications for the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia on April 15 for students in higher education, according to a tweet by Communications and Multimedia Minister Annuar Mossad.
PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia is a government assistance program to help tertiary students from low-income families. Through this program, tertiary students will receive a free tablet computer.
The program covers students from public and private higher education institutions, community colleges and higher education departments. As long as the student’s household income does not exceed RM4850, he/she is eligible to receive a free tablet. The free tablet will have at least a 10.1″ screen and will have at least 4GB of memory.
The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia is currently working on setting up a website for the application of a device scheme for tertiary students in Malaysia. Successful applicants will receive a free tablet in June.
