The government divides people into 3 groups based on income, namely B40 low income group, M40 middle income group and T20 high income group.
Within the B40 low income group, the government further divided people into 4 groups, namely B1, B2, B3 and B4. The M40 middle income group was also divided into M1, M2, M3 and M4. The T20 high income group was divided into T1 and T2.
Those with monthly household income less than RM2,500 are classified as B1, those with monthly income between RM2,501 and RM3,170 are classified as B2, those with monthly income between RM3,171 and RM3,970 are classified as B3, and those with monthly income between RM3,971 and RM4,850 are classified as B4.
As for the M40 middle income group, M1 is for those earning RM4,851 to RM5,880 per month, M2 is for RM5,881 to RM7,100, M3 is for RM7,101 to RM8,700, and M4 is for RM8,701 to RM10,970.
For T20 high income group parents, T1 is for those earning RM10,971 to RM15,040 per month, while T2 is for those earning more than RM15,041 per month.
According to the government’s BKM, this assistance already covers M1 of the M40 middle income group.
