The government is giving away free tablets to students in higher education! Applications for this program will be open from April 15, 2022 at 8am.
To help higher education students from low-income families in B40, the government has announced the launch of PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia, an Internet access device program for tertiary students. Through this program, tertiary students from low-income families will be able to get a free tablet.
Applications for the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia will be open from 15 April 2022 for both public and private tertiary students enrolled in diploma and bachelor programmes recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education.
However, it is important to note that the tablet is not for resale or transfer and must be returned to the university upon completion of the program. Students enrolled in their final year of post-secondary study are not eligible to apply. Applicants must also be full time students.
Priority will be given to students in the B40 low income group for the Internet Access Device Program. If you belong to an M40 middle income family, you can also try to apply and your application will be considered by the relevant authorities.
According to the official website of Ministry of Communication and Multimedia, the minimum equipment of the tablet is as follows 10.1 inch 1280X800 resolution screen, Android 10 or above, 4G support, minimum 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM, 256GB memory card insertable, minimum 2MP front camera, minimum 5MP rear camera, WiFi 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
Interested parties can apply by visiting https://perantisiswa.kkmm.gov.my/ starting April 15 at 8am. Successful applicants will be notified by email and can receive the tablet in June.
Application requirements:
1. Malaysian citizens
2. B40 low income families (families with monthly income not exceeding RM4,850)
3. Enrolled in a diploma or bachelor program
4. Not a Final Year student
5. Enrolled in a full time course (Full Time)
6. have not benefited from the government’s equipment program
