It’s also been about a month since Chrome 99 was released, and Google has released a new version of Chrome with version number 100 (chrome://whats-new/). For more than a decade, Google has been rolling out major Chrome version updates every 6 weeks with an accompanying version number, and in September 2021, began updating more frequently, every 4 weeks, primarily to fix security vulnerabilities and introduce new features faster.

In addition to being an important milestone in its own right, Chrome 100 is also a critical update because it can break the experience of visiting some websites when parsing user agent strings. While Google has implemented some safeguards, the technical issues associated with a triple-digit version number are still of concern to the industry.

According to Google, the new version will continue to significantly reduce memory usage, CPU usage, and speed. After all, we all know that Google Chrome is a very RAM-consuming software. Sometimes it can consume 90% of your computer’s RAM capacity without opening a few tabs! Now, Chrome 100 has been pushed to the user side, so you can automatically update to experience it!
