According to Maybank, people can use Maybank MAE to pay merchants in China. Chinese tourists can also use Alipay to scan the local DuitNow QR code to pay when they are in Malaysia.
Maybank MAE users in China can open Maybank MAE to scan the merchant’s Alipay QR code, then enter the RMB payment amount and complete the payment process. When you make the payment, you will be able to know the exchange rate of RM and the amount of payment in RM directly.
In fact, not only can you use Maybank MAE in China, you can also use Maybank MAE in Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore.
This means that when you travel to China, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore, you no longer need to exchange large amounts of foreign currency, you can just use a cell phone to complete the payment.
