Retail price of 5kg bottles of cooking oil will be reduced from RM34.70 to RM33.50, according to a message from the Chairman of the Anti-Inflation Task Force, which will be effective from 8 September to 7 October 2022.
The government started setting a retail ceiling price for pure palm cooking oil in bottles last month, which means that businesses will not be allowed to sell pure palm cooking oil in bottles that exceed the retail ceiling price. The Government will announce the retail ceiling price at the beginning of each month.
The ceiling price will be reduced from RM34.70 to RM33.50 for a 5kg bottle, from RM21.70 to RM21.10 for a 3kg bottle, from RM14.70 to RM14.30 for a 2kg bottle and from RM7.70 to RM7.50 for a 1kg bottle.
