The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) launched a limited edition “potato perfume”!
Idaho is also known as the “Potato State”. More than one-third of the potatoes in the United States are produced here, with good quality, low water content, and moderate sweetness. Therefore, a lot of fast food chains get most of their fries from this place!
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, the Idaho Potato Council recently launched “Frites” by Idaho, a limited-edition potato fragrance made from Idaho potatoes and essential oils. The fragrance smells like a fresh plate of fries. Jamey Higham, president and CEO of the council, said “This is the perfect gift for a friend who loves French fries!”
The most difficult part of the whole process is making the scent! IPC makes perfumes in-house and never hires perfumers. For this fragrance, IPC researched many different fragrances in order to create the scent of pure French fries!
To create the fragrance, IPC used essential oils and Idaho distilled russet potatoes (Russet Potatoes), which are the best potatoes for making French fries. Although IPC does not want to reveal the secret recipe for making the French Fries perfume, the perfume is indeed made up of these elements.
Although the fragrance of this perfume is very peculiar, it was swept away after its launch because of the capacity of 50 ml of crystal bottle perfume priced at $1.89 (about RM8). Very affordable! Because of the popularity of potato perfume, if you manage to grab a bottle, you may have to wait 4 to 6 weeks to receive it!
