For the recent financial fraud cases, the National Bank asks the banks to give fair compensation to the victims if necessary!

In response to recent financial fraud cases, the National Bank has issued circular asking banks to exercise caution and, if necessary, to compensate victims fairly!

 

According to a statement issued by Bank Negara, all banks must adopt high standards of security to prevent all forms of financial fraud, especially in internet and mobile banking.

 

As fraudsters continue to use more sophisticated methods to deceive the public, Bank Negara calls on the financial industry to be more vigilant and banks need to maintain proper communication with victims, and Bank Negara will take the recent cases of financial fraud seriously.

 

In the message, it is stated that the National Bank has been working with the police, the Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the financial industry to combat financial fraud and to raise public awareness of fraud. In addition to ensuring that financiers take more effective preventive measures against new modus operandi, the Bank also hopes to recover misappropriated funds.

 

The public is urged to protect their personal information and to be extra vigilant when downloading mobile software from unknown sources.

 

National Bank reminds the public to notify their bank immediately if they notice suspicious transactions in their bank accounts. The public can also contact the Commercial Crime Investigation Bureau (CCID) hotline at 03-2610 1559/1599 or call the National Bank hotline at 1300885465.
