For the first time since December 2020, Malaysia has seen no Covid-19 deaths.

Malaysia has no Covid-19 deaths recorded today.

Malaysia’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic has improved significantly in the two years since the pandemic began.

According to Noor Hisham, Malaysia will report 0 deaths due to Covid-19 today for the first time since the 18th of December 2020. He attributed the government’s success to its data-driven and calibrated strategies.

The number of new infections in the country has also decreased, with the Health Ministry reporting 1,690 cases and zero clusters as of midnight.

According to statistics on the ministry’s CovidNow website, the total active cases in the country are now down to 25,944, with 96% of infected people having symptoms mild enough that they only require quarantine at home.

Of those admitted to the hospital, 23 are in intensive care units (ICUs), and 15 require mechanical ventilation. The ICU utilisation rate for Covid-19 patients is 5.2%, while the hospital occupancy rate for Covid-19 patients is 13.9%.

There are currently only four active clusters in Malaysia, which are spread across the Klang Valley, Kedah, and Kelantan. To date, 35,732 Malaysians have died from Covid-19 since the pandemic began in 2020.
