Soon, everyone’s favourite sardonic genius will say goodbye to television viewers worldwide after two wildly successful series. The seventh season of the popular television programme “Young Sheldon” will be the last, CBS announced in an email to CNN on Tuesday. According to the release, the sitcom’s one-hour series finale will air on Thursday, May 16. The mega-hit television programme “The Big Bang Theory,” which aired on CBS from 2007 to 2019, has a prequel spinoff called “Young Sheldon.” The character of Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons, who is a socially awkward physicist with exceptional intelligence but a unique perspective on the world that frequently results in comedic moments, was first introduced to viewers of that show.
The spinoff features actor Iain Armitage from “Big Little Lies” as Sheldon, and it explores his early years and family life. At the end of the upcoming season of “Young Sheldon,” the beloved character will have appeared on television for 17 years between the two series. In a statement released by CBS, executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro, and Chuck Lorre said that it has been a great experience to be able to tell the story of Sheldon Cooper’s beginnings and to include the entire Cooper family. “We are thrilled to share this final season with you on behalf of the entire ‘Young Sheldon’ family, and we are grateful to our fans for supporting this chapter of the Coopers these past six seasons.” The character of Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons, who is a socially awkward physicist with exceptional intelligence but a unique perspective on the world that frequently results in comedic moments, was first introduced to viewers of that show.
