A family of three from Singapore had a nightmarish holiday in Hong Kong when they got into a fight with the locals, which led to their detention and hospitalisation, according to Hong Kong media.
According to HK01, the incident happened on December 10 at 10.25 p.m. in the residential neighbourhood of Jordan on Woosung Street.
Videos of a man in a light blue T-shirt laying on his side with two men pinning him to the ground and a lady standing behind them have gone viral on social media.
There’s a second woman, panicked, racing towards the males in a white T-shirt.
“What are you doing?” Give up! Give my hubby back,” she exclaims.
To save the man in light blue, other individuals can be seen shoving the other two men aside in other clips.
Another video shows police officers trying to break up the altercation at the site while armed with shields and batons.
According to HK01, the fight started after the Singaporean family, who were at a food stand on Woosung Street, became enraged about the man in light blue, who they believed to be a 50-year-old Hong Kong resident, smoking at a table close by.
The guy approached the 54-year-old father from behind and gave him a bottle blow to the head before rushing off as the family exited the stall.
At the intersection of Woosong and Pak Hoi streets, where the altercation subsequently broke out, the father, his 52-year-old wife, and their 17-year-old son pursued and stopped the guy.
According to HK01, the four were brought to Kwong Wah Hospital after being detained by Hong Kong police for attack causing actual bodily injury (AOABH).
ST has sought comments from the Yau Tsim District police in Hong Kong and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
