A guy has complained about his internship experience at a nearby business, claiming that he was rarely given work that fell under his defined function. Instead, he was primarily expected to conduct janitorial tasks like mopping the floor as a caretaker.
The individual, who wishes to remain unnamed, reportedly posted his upsetting experience while working as an intern at a small photography business on the Malaysian Pay Gap Instagram page. He admitted that he never had the chance to do any photography or media-related work throughout his internship.
He claimed that as the only intern working for the company, housekeeping jobs were mostly given to him and that he was expected to finish them. He feels that he was taken advantage of during his internship and that this was done intentionally.
The man further claimed that his boss threatened to give him bad feedback in his evaluation if he didn’t have a “trendy” hairstyle and regularly made fun of him.
He asserted that he had brought up the matter with a lecturer, who made an effort to get in touch with his previous supervisor but got no response.
The man said that after his own internship experience, he understood why his supervisor had earlier highlighted an event in which another intern had gone without warning.
“On the day I resigned, I confronted my supervisor directly, expressing my understanding of why the previous intern left without notice.”
The man said that when he left his internship, his boss immediately complained to his lecturer about his apparent bad attitude. In a statement expressing his annoyance, he said,
“She promptly contacted my lecturer, complaining about my attitude but failed to realize how poorly she treated the interns.“
Internet users expressed pity for the man’s tragic experience while strongly criticizing the company’s and the supervisor’s behavior. They criticized the business for abusing and controlling the interns it had hired, and they commended the man for speaking out fearlessly against the wrongdoing.
