Evacuees rise in Kelantan, Perak due to floods last night

As of last night, the situation in Terengganu and Selangor is supposedly getting better, but the number of flood victims in Kelantan and Perak kept rising.

At 8 p.m. yesterday, the number of flood victims in Kelantan had risen from 4,114 people from 1,282 families yesterday morning to 4,840 people from 1,528 families.

Only the districts of Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah are still affected by the floods, according to the Disaster Info portal of the Social Welfare Department (JKM). All victims are being housed in fifteen temporary relief centers (PPS).

SK Gual Tinggi, SK Sri Rantau Panjang (2), SK Gual To’Deh, SK Kok Pauh, SK Gual Sitok, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Gual Periok, SMK Baroh Pial, SK Kedai Tanjong, SK Gual Periok, Madrasah Tasek Bakong, SK Sri Kiambang, SMK (A) Lati, and SK Lati are among the locations of the evacuees during Pasir Mas.

 

 

The victims are being housed at PPS Sekolah Menengah Ugama (A) Kajang in Tanah Merah. When the Dewan Serbaguna Padang Tembak flood relief center (PPS) opened in Teluk Intan yesterday morning, there were 80 victims from 25 families; however, as of tonight, there are 87 victims from 26 families in Perak.

The affected residents are from Batu 9, Lorong Kedah, Lorong Belakang Klinik, Lorong Sidang Osman, Batu 7, Batu 8, Lorong Imam Khairi, and Lorong Mesra, according to the Perak Civil Defence Force (APM) Disaster Management Committee Secretariat.

Concurrently, the Sungai Bidor water level at Changkat Jong has reportedly reached a dangerous level of 3.57 meters, according to the Perak Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS).

The second wave of floods to hit Terengganu is gradually getting better; as of 8 p.m., there were only 824 victims from 184 families staying in the PPS, down from 2,693 victims from 654 families the previous morning.

The Kemaman, Hulu Terengganu, and Besut districts have fully recovered from the floods, but all flood evacuees are placed in 10 PPS in three districts: Setiu, Dungun, and Marang, according to the Terengganu Flood Management Committee Secretariat.

Six PPS in Dungun are housing 595 victims from 151 families, while three PPS in Marang are housing 179 evacuees from 22 families. Just fifty victims from eleven families remain at the Kampung Nyatoh Surau in Setiu.

The official flood information portal for the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) is available at https://publicinfobanjir.water.gov.All major river water levels in the state, including the Sungai Tersat in Kampung Sekayu, Hulu Terengganu, are at normal levels, with the exception of the warning level.

According to the JPS Info Banjir portal, as of 9 p.m., there were 39 people from 11 families in Selangor, down from 69 people from 23 families this morning.

There are still two PPS in operation in the state: 19 people are seeking refuge at SK Parit Mahang in Kuala Selangor, while 20 victims are housed at Sekolah Rendah Agama (SRA) Padang Jawa in Klang. The Bernama
