There was news that Eslite Bookstore was about to enter Malaysia. Now Min Chieh Wu, chairman of Eslite Life, announced today that Eslite will advance to Southeast Asia and will join YTL Group to enter Bukit Bintang The Starhill in Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle. It is expected to open in 2022.
Eslite Chairman Wu Min Chieh said that the first physical cultural field in Southeast Asia is a high priority and specific investment behavior for the realization of Malaysia’s urban cultural tourism, daily cultural life, and diverse cultural and creative industries after the epidemic.
Eslite said that Kuala Lumpur has been selected by UNESCO as the 2020 World Book Capital. The company’s first base in Southeast Asia is located in the center of Kuala Lumpur. The area is comparable to Taipei’s Xinyi District, known as the “Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur”, settled in The Starhill, a complex mall.
Eslite’s occupancy floor is the entire L1 floor and part of the GF area, covering an area of 2,000 square meters. The operating model is leased and self-operated by Eslite, and is expected to open in 2022. The Eslite Bookstore is also planned to be larger than the original Dunnan Eslite Bookstore in Taipei.
Eslite Life is announcing a new overseas presence today, following its first foray out of the Chinese community in 2019, with a store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo and much acclaim.
