In recent years, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has generally announced the dividend payout rate on one of the Saturdays at the end of February each year. However, it is understood that this year, or an exception, the dividend payout rate will be announced on February 28 (Monday).
According to Sin Chew Daily, the EPF is not expected to announce the dividend payout rate this Saturday but will announce the dividend payout rate for last year for 2021 on Monday, February 28 at noon.
In any case, it is up to the authorities to decide when the EPF will announce the dividend payout rate.
Due to the impact of the pandemic, the EPF announced last year that the payout rate for 2020 was only 5.20%, the lowest payout ratio since 2008 (4.50%).
However, based on the stellar investment performance last year and the imminent national election, economists generally predict that the latest provident fund payout rate in 2021 will be between 5.2% and 6%, and may even exceed 6%.
