To encourage the use of environmentally friendly electric vehicles (EVs), vehicle owners will be exempted from paying parking fees when parking their EVs in public parking spaces in Selangor, said Selangor Minister Amiruddin in presenting the 2022 Budget.
Selangor government aims to build 10,000 EV charging stations by 2025, of which 1,000 will be established by 2022.
The state government is also exploring the possibility of upgrading diesel and petrol government vehicles of state government agencies and government-linked companies to electric vehicles. All businesses and industries that invest in electric transport infrastructure will receive discounts on business licence fees.
Purchases of electric vehicles will be exempted from road tax, import duty and sales tax too.
