According to the official website of the Malaysian Welfare Department (JKM), those with household income up to the poverty line can apply for Bantuan Warga Emas (BWE) from the Welfare Department and will receive RM500 per month.
The eligibility criteria for the BWE are as follows: a Malaysian citizen residing in Malaysia, aged 60 years or above, with a household income below the poverty line and not residing in an institution under the welfare board.
Eligible persons can apply at the nearest District Welfare Office. After applying, the authorities may visit your home to conduct research and checks to see if you are eligible.
