According to Senior Minister of Educatio, Ministry of Education will not announce any more school closures and SPM exams will be held as scheduled in early March.
Over the past two years, primary and secondary schools across the country have faced numerous school closures as the epidemic has spread across the country, forcing schools to close and students to study at home.
The education minister assured parents that schools will not be closed again due to the increase in covid. He noted that the cluster of infections in schools represents only 0.5% of the total number of schools in the country and so physical classes in schools will continue as usual as most of the patients are in a mild condition.
Although there has been a sharp increase in the number of new cases in a single day nationwide in recent days, this is different from the situation in the past 2 years, when the vaccination rate for the outbreak was insufficient, while today the vaccination rate covers most groups and the vaccination program for adolescents and children is in order.
Parents are urged to register their children between the ages of 5 and 11 for vaccination. Data as of Feb. 12 show that 3.8% of children aged 5 to 11 have received their first dose of the vaccine and 89.8% of adolescents aged 12 to 17 have been vaccinated.
