E-scooter can not be used on the main road! There are 16 people in Saman!

The recent trend of riding E-scooter in Malaysia, you can even see the existence of E-scooter in many areas. But, do you know? In fact, the E-scooter is not allowed to ride in the avenue, otherwise you will receive a ticket!

 

According to China Daily, some people went to Cyberjaya earlier to ride an E-scooter, but they violated the law in the main road, the police officer saw the situation and issued a ticket to 16 people.

 

In addition, the Sepang Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit also posted on Facebook in response to the enforcement action, advising people to pay attention to their own safety and not to use electric scooters on the main road. The post has also aroused much debate among netizens, saying that this type of E-scooter is like an advanced version of the mosquito bike, which can easily cause traffic accidents, and urging law enforcement authorities to tighten control.

 

In fact, our government has earlier legislation, and in the Land Transport Act 1987, sections 88 (1) (C) and 88 (4), and under the Road Traffic Regulations 2021 (prohibit the use of certain micro-motorized vehicles); unless specifically approved or gazetted, no person shall use certain micro-motorized vehicles in any part of any road, this regulation came into force on December 16, 2021.

 

In this regard, any person riding a miniature motor vehicle while driving recklessly and dangerously may be sentenced to jail and fined. Under this offence, the offending driver of a micro motor vehicle shall be liable to a fine of not less than RM1,000 and not more than RM5,000 and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.
