The Malaysian Road Safety Authority has issued a guide for driving in rainy weather.
1. Do not apply the brakes too much when the car is out of control
Do not apply the brakes excessively when the car is out of control. Instead, you should hold on to the steering wheel and try to control the direction of the car. 2.
2. Don’t drive in the right lane
You should try to stay in the left lane, because if you drive in the right lane, cars in the opposite lane may spray water on your windshield and affect your vision.
3. Take a break at a rest stop
If a rainstorm affects your vision, you should take a break at a rest stop and wait until the rain subsides before getting back on the road.
4. Keep your distance from the vehicle in front of you
Heavy rain affects your vision and may affect your reaction time, so you should keep a sufficient distance from the vehicle in front of you. If the car in front of you applies the brakes in an emergency, you can have more time to react.
5. Do not use emergency double flashing lights
You are only allowed to use double flashing lights when your car breaks down, and it is not recommended that drivers use double flashing lights during rainstorms.
6. Slow down the speed of the car
Slippery roads may cause you to brake for longer distances, so you should slow down.
