According to a report by online media “Perspective Malaysia”, the prices of drinks in traditional coffee shops will be adjusted from January 1, 2022, with an average increase of 20 to 60 sen. In the era of rising department stores, people will have to tighten their belts to get by.

The president of the Federation of Coffee and Tea Industry pointed out that the rate of increase of drinks in coffee shops depends on the region, the rate of increase of drinks in coffee shops in rural areas is between 20 to 30 sen, while the price of drinks in urban areas is increased by 40 to 60 sen.

Faced with the pressure of business costs, coffee shop operators can only choose to adjust the price of beverages. Coffee shop operators pointed out that a cup of coffee increased by 20 sen, 100 cups of coffee is only an extra RM20, which can only be considered a subsidy for the operators.

Coffee shop operators revealed that condensed milk, evaporated milk, tea, coffee powder, gas, rent, staff salaries are all increasing prices, the industry has no choice but to choose from January 2022 to increase the price of beverages.

But there are still many coffee shop operators do not dare to raise prices, fearing that they will scare away customers, the industry can only reduce staff and sell more at a lower profit.
