Don’t share Roadblock messages in Waze! Police One: Don’t give away police enforcement work!

01/02/2023

I believe that when you drive, you will use the traffic navigation application Waze to find the most convenient route without traffic congestion, among which you will also observe which area has a police roadblock, so as to avoid the area. In response, Kuala Lumpur Chief Superintendent Datuk Azmi recently advised road users, “Please do not share the news of police roadblocks in Waze to help drunk drivers escape!”

According to China Daily, Kuala Lumpur police “one brother” Dato’ Azmi recently attended an event, in his speech on stage, advised road users not to share the location of police roadblocks in Waze, to avoid action exposure, resulting in illegal drivers, especially drunk drivers, “received the wind This will lead to drivers, especially drunk drivers, “getting wind of the action” and using alternative routes to avoid the ban.

He said some people believe that sharing the location of the police in advance can alert road users to drive more carefully and obey traffic rules, but this move by the public has hindered the police from carrying out their tasks, including banning those drivers who drive drunk, run red lights, drive against the traffic, etc.

“The public needs to be aware of the risks and hazards posed by those who drive illegally, including drunk driving; those who have not been harmed by violations such as drunk driving simply cannot appreciate the pain of the victims’ families.”

Azmi believes that the public needs to be aware that negligent driving, drunk driving, running red lights and driving against traffic all face risks to life; and hopes that the public, especially motorists, will cooperate with the police instead of trying to help drivers who drive illegally on the highway. Azmi advised bitterly that he hopes road users will cooperate with the police and not share the location of police roadblocks to assist drivers who violate the law to avoid police crackdowns.
