Don’t get fat! Eat cocoa powder can lose weight! Research: cocoa powder helps reduce body weight gain and fatty liver disease~

In view of the growing obesity population, to understand the impact of cocoa supplementation on obese people and people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, a Penn State University research team conducted an experimental study.

Obese mice with fatty liver were fed cocoa powder at 80mg per gram of body weight for 8 weeks.

The results showed that obese mice supplemented with cocoa powder had a 21% decrease in weight gain and a 28% decrease in fatty liver symptoms. Other changes include lighter spleen weight, which means less inflammation; Oxidation pressure is reduced by 56%; The level of DNA damage was reduced by 75%.

The research team thinks that this may be part of cocoa, which can inhibit enzymes responsible for digesting fat and carbohydrates. In other words, fat cannot be absorbed and digested because of these compounds.

In this regard, the research team speculated that regular supplementation of cocoa powder can help reduce fatty liver and slow down weight gain, and also assumed that the human body should be able to produce similar reactions, but further verification is needed.
