According to the Malaysian media outlet “Kosmo!”, a delivery rider recently shared an incident where he encountered a rude customer while delivering food, leaving him feeling frustrated.
Yusmadi, the delivery rider, reported that it had been a very rainy day. Despite the bad weather, the customer threw the money onto a pillar after he served the dinner to them since they were worried about having their hands wet. The pillar was then carried away by the high wind.
“I was out in the heavy rain yesterday, wearing a raincoat while making deliveries, completely drenched. But there are still people who look at us delivery riders with disgust, even though we’re out here delivering food in such heavy rain conditions.”
“He threw the money onto the pillar just because he didn’t want to touch our wet hands.”
Yusmadi continued by saying that he had to pick up the cash off the ground because his family needed it for food and shopping.
“I thought about my children’s expressions and about going to the market tomorrow to buy groceries. I had to put aside my dignity and pick up the money that was blown onto the ground by the wind.”
Many online users were moved by his story and expressed their outrage at the unkind customer as well as their disdain for the delivery drivers who risk their safety to serve them.
Izah Aliza said, “That person lacks manners! I sincerely wish that the delivery rider receives blessings, and wealth and that everything goes smoothly for him.” Nur Huda said, “It’s heart-wrenching. Please, delivery riders, stay patient.”
It is unfortunate to learn about cases where delivery riders experience disrespect while exerting significant effort to render their services.
