Zimperium, a state-owned and foreign security agency, according to a foreign media CNBC report, has recently discovered that there are more than 100 Android Apps with a malicious “GiftHorse” virus that may induce users to unknowingly touch the subscription, and without users approval, remove user’s telecommunications bill. Furthermore, account charges and deductions have penetrated into the Google Play Store!
It is reported that once user installs these malicious apps, the phone will pop up the Window “You won the prize!” at least 5 times per hour, until user accidentally click it, then with user’s IP location pop up a webpage with user’s local language and ask the user to enter phone number for verification.
As a matter of fact, it is an automatic paid service subscription, instead of a verification procedure. The user will incurred charges approximately 30 Euros (around RM145) per month, yet unknowingly that he has been victimized at that moment.
Due to it has been circulating in more than 70 countries, there are about tens of millions of Android users have been affected since these malicious apps have been released on November last year. Therefore, please check asap the following list of malicious apps and uninstall it immediately:
