IPOH: Several relatives of the secondary school student who was killed in an accident in Taman Jati have gathered at the Ipoh Lower Courts premises.
They included the late Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie’s uncles.
One of them, Abdul Razak Judin, when approached, said they want to face the 44-year-old senior police officer, who will be charged at the Magistrate Court for murder on Monday (Dec 18).
“We are sad over his death and we are ready to face the perpetrator,” said the 48-year-old.
Also present were two of the deceased’s other uncles, Mohd Nizam Abdullah, 43, and Ahmad Faizal Jaafar, 47.
Members of the media gathered at the court as early as 7.30am.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan arrived at court compound around 8.45am.
On Sunday (Dec 17), Attorney General Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh said in a press statement that there was sufficient evidence to charge the police officer with murder.
The senior police officer, a Deputy Supt stationed at the Kedah police headquarters, was arrested on Friday (Dec 15).
On Friday, Muhammad Zaharif Affendi, a Form Five student from SMK Jati, died after the motorcycle he was riding on was rammed by a car at about 12.40pm.
