A local netizen posted a video describing the scene he saw, “I saw with my own eyes that he picked up the baby and threw him downstairs, and then jumped down himself.”
According to the “Xiaoxiang Morning Herald” report, multiple live videos uploaded by netizens showed that a large number of people were watching the scene, ambulance vehicles were parked, and medical staff and firefighters were at the scene.
According to netizens, the incident happened around 7 pm when a man threw his child from the third floor and jumped down after him. Both of them were taken away by the ambulance. The man was about 40 years old and the child was only three or four years old.
According to “Dawan News”, on the morning of February 20, Mr. Yao, a resident near the place where the incident occurred, said that he and the man who jumped from the building were neighbors and the two knew each other. According to Mr. Yao, the man who jumped from the building raised his 4-year-old child alone and also had to take care of his mother who was not mentally healthy. His life was quite stressful and he usually left his children and the elderly at home when he went to work. When the incident occurred, the man had been sitting upstairs for more than half an hour, and then he got emotional and threw the child downstairs. Mr. Yao also deeply regrets this matter.
On the morning of the 20th, a staff member from the Huang Yi Town Police Station said that because he had just handed over his shift, he did not know much about what happened last night and needed to ask the police officers who were dispatched last night.
A staff member of the Huang Yi Town Government said that neither of the two injuries were life-threatening. They are currently being treated in the hospital. The man suffered a broken leg and the child suffered a fractured skull. The staff member said that according to police, the man was unconscious at the time of the incident, and the police station is currently investigating the specific situation.
