Covid-19 infections are up 15,941 in Malaysia, with 33 deaths.
In the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry reported 15,941 new Covid-19 infections, up from 15,215 instances the day before.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah stated in a statement that the overall number of infections has risen to 4,183,359 since Covid-19 came in the country in 2020.
The number of people who died as a result of the illness has decreased slightly, from 64 on Wednesday to 33. Eleven of today’s fresh victims died before they could be taken to the hospital. Since the outbreak began, Covid-19 has claimed the lives of 34,939 people.
According to Dr. Noor Hisham, 21,186 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of persons who have been rescued to 3,941,829.
Dr. Noor Hisham also revealed that just 108 of the cases recorded today, or 0.58 percent, were in the hospitalisation categories 3, 4, and 5. The remaining individuals, he claimed, simply had minor symptoms.
At this time, 275 patients are being treated in intensive care units (ICUs), with 154 of them being suspected, probable, or under investigation for Covid-19. Of these 275, 168 require ventilators to assist them in breathing, including 77 who have been verified as Covid-19 positive, Dr. Noor Hisham explained.
Dr. Noor Hisham stated three states are currently using more over half of their ICU bed capacity, according to the statement. Putrajaya (67%) is the most populous city in Malaysia, followed by Selangor (55%), and Kuala Lumpur (55%). (53 per cent).
In two states, Covid-19 patients occupy more over half of non-ICU beds. Putrajaya (93%) and Selangor (10%) are the two most populous states in Malaysia (66 per cent). No state presently has more than half of its Covid-19 quarantine beds occupied. The number of Covid-19 patients requiring respiratory assistance has dropped to 168, according to Dr. Noor Hisham.
Overall, 19% of patients with and without Covid-19 use a ventilator, according to him. The Health Ministry found one Covid-19 cluster in the last 24 hours, according to Dr. Noor Hisham, culminating in 207 active clusters.
