Everyone who uses an e-wallet frequently, do you know the point system of each e-wallet?
The most popular e-wallets in Malaysia are Boost, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, GrabPay and ShopeePay. Since Touch ‘n Go eWallet and ShopeePay do not implement a point system, I won’t go into details here. Here will focus on analyzing the points system of Boost and GrabPay.
1. Grab
GrabPay has a total of 4 levels, namely Member, Silver, Gold and Platinum. A Member at Silver levels, you get 1.5 Points for every RM1 spent, while Gold gets 2.25 Points for every RM1 spent, and Platinum grades get 3 Points for every RM1 spent.
When users accumulate 200 Points, they can upgrade from Member to Silver, accumulate 900 Points to upgrade to Gold, and accumulate 3500 Points to upgrade to Platinum. The value of Grab points is 160 to 183 Points are equal to RM1. Users can directly use Points to deduct the consumption amount when consuming.
Grab will use January to June and July to December as the calculation time. You can get the upgrade as long as you meet the upgrade conditions in January and July. Users do not have to worry about points expiration because users only need to spend RM1 to get an extra 3 months of points validity.
2. Boost
There are 3 levels of Boost e-wallet. Red Recruit will get 1 Boost Star for every RM1 spent, Silver Sergeant will get 2 Boost Stars for every RM1 spent, and Gold General will get 3 Boost Stars for every RM1 spent.
You can upgrade from Red Recruit to Silver Sergeant after spending RM1200 in 3 months and then upgrade to Gold General after spending RM4500. Boost Stars can be redeemed into various coupons, from 770 to 900 Boost Stars can be redeemed into coupons worth RM1. Gold General users can use Boost Stars to deduct the consumption amount when purchasing.
As long as users use Online Banking to recharge their Boost e-wallet, they can enjoy additional Boost Stars. Red Recruit will get 1 Boost Star for every RM1 recharge, Silver Sergeant will get 2 Boost Stars for every RM1 recharge, and Gold General will get 3 Boost Stars for every RM1 recharge. These Boost Stars will not be transferred to the user’s account until next month.
3. Summary
From the point of view of accumulated points, upgrades and redemption points, Grab is more attractive than Boost. However, Grab has a disadvantage, that is, it supports fewer application scenarios. Scanning DuitNow QR of other e-wallets in the store cannot accumulate points, while Boost can accumulate points as long as there is consumption.
