A very “chubby” beaver was photographed in a Japanese animal park by a photographer, and the image quickly went viral. Netizens found the beaver to be adorable but also expressed concern for its health.
A Japanese Twitter user and photographer by the name of “やまこじ” enjoys spending the weekends at various zoos where he takes interesting pictures of the animals. He discovered a completely round-shaped beaver at the North American beaver exhibit last Friday (12th) while visiting the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, and couldn’t help but take dozens of pictures of it.

The beaver’s fat and adorable appearance immediately attracted the attention of many netizens once the photographs were released. People remarked,
“So round!” for example.
“I believed it to be a seal!” It resembles a long-tailed Pikachu, I thought.
“Is the keeper feeding it like their grandparents would!” and “It looks exactly like the original Pikachu!”
Nevertheless, several online users voiced their worry, asking,
“It’s so rounded and cute, but shouldn’t it lose weight?”
“The beavers I am familiar with don’t resemble this. I hope the park takes its weight seriously.”
The adorable appearance of the plump beaver in the widely shared photograph delighted online users, but it also brought attention to the necessity of keeping an eye on the animal’s health and maintaining its well-being.
