Good news! The RM150 start-up grant will be released from January 12.

The Bantuan Awal Persekolahan is a government program that provides financial assistance to primary and secondary school students. Through this program, all primary and secondary school students will receive RM150, which will be distributed by the Ministry of Education to the schools, which will then distribute the money to the students.

This year, students from Primary 1 to Secondary 4 will receive the start-up grant on January 12, while students who will start Primary 1 in March will receive the start-up grant on April 17 at the earliest.

The scheme will benefit 4,364,002 students in 10,197 schools nationwide with a total of RM654.6 million.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar announced in his mini-budget speech in Parliament on December 20 that RM150 will be given to every student in primary and secondary schools. Each student will receive RM150 regardless of their parents’ income.

The purpose of the start-up grant is to relieve parents of the burden of having to buy new uniforms, school bags, stationery, etc., as well as pay a series of school fees or bus fares for their children on the start of the school year.
