China and Southeast Asia 4 over connected QR code payment system!

16/10/2022

No longer need to exchange currency when traveling to Southeast Asian countries!

China and four other Southeast Asian countries plan to connect the QR code payment system, in the future, when people travel to these countries or business, no longer need to prepare foreign currency, but can directly scan the code payment. The other four Southeast Asian countries are Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

At present, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand have already connected to the cross-border QR code payment system, while Malaysia and Singapore have also signed PayNow and DuitNow cooperation and plan to officially launch in the fourth quarter of this year. The Philippines has also signed a cross-border QR code payment agreement with Singapore last year.

Once China’s DuitNow is connected to the QR code payment systems of various Southeast Asian countries, people will be able to scan the QR codes of merchants directly when they travel abroad to complete their payments without the hassle of exchanging foreign currency.

In addition, the BigPay e-wallet from Capital A (formerly known as AirAsia Group), a prepaid card that can be reloaded when you need to use it abroad, is also ideal for card purchases abroad.
