The latest census report has been released and Selangor is the most populous state!
According to the latest census report, Selangor has a total of 6.99 million people, accounting for 21.6% of the entire population of Malaysia, with a compound population growth rate of 2.7%. Selangor has 3.71 million males and 3.28 million females, with a male to female ratio of 113 males to 100 females.
Johor is the second most populous state with a total of 4.01 million people and 12.4% of Malaysia’s population living in Johor. Johor has a male population of 2.14 million and a female population of 1.86 million, with a male to female ratio of 115 males to 100 females.
Sabah is the third most populous state with a total of 3.42 million people and 10.5% of Malaysia’s population living in Sabah. Sabah has 1.77 million people and 1.63 million women, with a male to female ratio of 109 males to 100 females. The population is growing at a compound rate of 0.9%.
The fourth most populous state in Malaysia is Perak, with 2.5 million people and 7.7% of Malaysia’s population living in Perak. There are 1.3 million males and 1.19 million females in Perak. The compounded population growth rate is 0.8%.
Sarawak is the fifth most populous state, with 7.6% or 2.45 million people living in Sarawak. There are 1.26 million males and 1.18 million females in Sarawak, with a ratio of 107 males to 100 females.
Kuala Lumpur, the country’s capital, has a population of 1.98 million, with a population growth rate of 2.2%. 1.05 million men and 920,000 women.
