Car buying fallacy! A car salesman has delayed the delivery of a customer’s car and left it in the showroom as a show car in order to cope with the company.
A user complained on the Toyota Vios Facebook group that the car salesman had made an appointment to deliver the car to the customer but decided not to do so at the last minute.
The reason given by the car salesman was that the company executives did not want the car to be delivered because the showroom display car had not yet arrived, so the user’s car was being used as a show car. The company was due to have an audit on Monday and the car salesman was asked by the company executives not to deliver the car for the time being in order to cope with the company’s audit.
The car salesman made an appointment with the customer to deliver the car, which meant that the car was registered in the new owner’s name, meaning that the car already belonged to the customer, but the company was treating the customer’s car as a show car. The company only gave the customer compensation for the first return to the factory for free repairs.
According to Toyota’s website, owners of Toyota Vios are entitled to free labour on the first return to the factory, as well as about RM150 for a black oil and filter change.
If you were the owner of this car, would you be willing to accept such compensation? Would you like to have your car as a show car?
