Canada is a country that many people aspire to, so many people choose to immigrate there, mainly because it has very good social welfare and covers a very wide range of rates, so it is one of the options for studying and immigrating. Despite this, crime is still low in such a good country. There was a horrific serial murder case back in the 90s, and this case will remind everyone of the Pat Sin Hotel massacre that happened in Hong Kong in the 80s.

There is a very large hog farm 27 kilometers from Vancouver near the U.S. border, covering about 40 acres. The farm is owned by two brothers, Robert, and David Pickton. Robert Pickton is seen as a quiet, honest, and nice man, whose only blemish is that he once stabbed a prostitute and was charged with murder, but the case was later dropped because the prostitute was only slightly injured.

Robert had a great experience in raising pigs, all of which were fat, and soon made his first fortune and became a local millionaire. In addition to their work on the pig farm, they also recycled cars. After earning money, the brothers did not forget to give back to the residents of the neighborhood, in the pig farm converted a large house, set up a “Piggy Palace Good Times Society” (the Piggy Palace Good Times Society), the purpose is to hold all kinds of dance and carnival activities, want to have fun Anyone who wants to have fun can come here to enjoy the free alcohol and grilled pork chops they provide.

Such an event attracts all kinds of people to come here, and every carnival day many motorcycles and cars come here, and men and women come here to party, including prostitutes. There are no tickets sold here, so no one will count the number of people who have entered, so after each party, there are always a few prostitutes missing and no one notices. The Vancouver police are not too concerned about this, because the prostitute industry is very mobile, and these missing prostitutes may have gone to other cities, or they may have died of anonymity or even drug addiction.

At the height of the pig farm orgy (1998), the number of missing prostitutes suddenly rose, and police finally began to investigate. A worker at Robert’s factory told the police that he had found a large number of women’s wallets and ID cards in Robert’s car. In addition, workers Scott Truber also revealed a moving detail, the pig farm pigs are not afraid of people, and will chase people to bite, very scary. These two clues can be said to be very important, but the police only sent a police officer to investigate, the results went three times and did not find any clues. Subsequently, the number of missing prostitutes increased again to 65 people.

This time, the police did not dare to slow down again, after re-combining all the clues, Robert’s pig farm was the only suspect. On June 6, 2002, the police sent large pieces of equipment to the pig farm for a carpet search, the results really dug up some human skeletons. The entire search took more than a year, and until 2004, a total of 31 human remains were found. After several verifications, 26 of them were identified as prostitutes who had been missing for a long time. In addition, the police also found revolvers, bullets, and other instruments of murder, as well as some dildos, night vision goggles, syringes, heroin, aphrodisiacs, and handcuffs as torture instruments.

The most amazing thing is that the police also found human remains in the frozen meat locker where the pork was stored, and some of this pork has been made into various products for sale. According to all the clues, and the clues revealed by the workers before, the pigs here are not afraid of people will also bite. According to police speculation, Robert would first inject heroin and handcuff the victims, shoot them and then shred them and use them as one the pigs’ food. After the news broke, many people who had bought and eaten Robert’s grilled pork chops were horrified because they had also indirectly eaten human flesh.

Although so many remains were dug up, Robert insisted on not admitting that he had killed the man, and fortunately, physical evidence came out after the human evidence. According to the eyewitness statement, he had witnessed Robert dismembering a victim in the slaughterhouse of the pig farm. According to the witness’ clues, the police also found two white plastic buckets in a refrigerator near Robert’s RV. Once the lid was removed, it was found that there were two heads that had been split open, in addition to the remains of some hands and feet.

After Robert was arrested and he remained tight-lipped about the details of his own handiwork, the police arranged for an undercover agent to live with him in order to extract more evidence. Of course, after gaining Robert’s trust, the undercover agent began to talk about his own illustrious past: in 1996 he set up a club that threw parties in a house converted from a pig farm, and most of the people involved in these free parties were drug addicts and women.

Robert first killed the woman because she abused Robert’s pigs after the orgy, making Robert angry and killing her. In order to keep others from finding out, Robert dismembered her and broke her up to feed the pigs, thinking that this would completely destroy all evidence of the crime. The first time there was a second time, Robert became addicted to it, so he killed 49 women in succession. According to him, he originally wanted to make it 50, but before he could do it, the incident was already exposed, and arrested.

This horrific serial murder case attracted attention, attracting more than 300 journalists from around the world. The case, from detection to trial, cost a total of 110 million Canadian dollars (about RM 360 million), a record in Canadian history. Robert was completely expressionless as he delivered the verdict. On the contrary, two of the female jurors present cried with emotion because of the cruelty of the case. In the end, the jury unanimously found Robert guilty of six counts of first- and second-degree murder. But because Canada has been abolishing the death penalty for more than 40 years, Robert was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years after his incarceration, and Robert’s story was remade into a documentary called “The Pig Farm”.
