In Kemaman, 9 students were accused with bullying.
Injuring three other pupils last month led to the charges against nine male students from a boarding secondary school in Kemaman being brought today in the Magistrate’s Court in this city.
When the accusations were read to the 16-year-old defendants in front of Magistrate Tengku Eliana Tuan Kamaruzaman, they all entered not-guilty pleas.
Three victims, all 15 years old, were allegedly punched and kicked by these classmates on August 23 at 11.30 p.m. in the secondary school dormitory in this city.
They faced a maximum punishment of RM2,000 or a prison sentence of up to one year under Section 323 of the Penal Code, or both, if found guilty.
All of the defendants were represented by attorney Akmal Wahidah Abd Halim, with the prosecution being handled by deputy public prosecutor Nor Azhani Azman.
The court set October 12 for mention and the production of documents and approved bail in the amounts of RM2,000 and RM5,500 apiece.
