28/06/2023

Famous British actor Julian Sands, 65, who vanished on January 13 while hiking in California, has been identified as deceased when a body was found close to the scene of his accident.

Rescue teams started looking for Sands when his family reported him missing, but it was briefly put on hold due to bad weather. Five months later, a hiker discovered a body in the same area, which sparked conjecture and subsequent verification that the body belonged to Julian Sands.

Local authorities reportedly verified the body’s identity on the 27th, but the cause of death has not yet been identified pending additional investigation. His supporters are devastated by the news of Sands’ passing.

In Southern California’s San Bernardino County, a hiker found a body early on the morning of the 24th and promptly alerted the authorities. Concerns grew because it was the same area where Julian Sands vanished.

Following his abduction, a search effort involving more than 80 search and rescue volunteers, deputy sheriffs, and staff personnel was conducted using two helicopters and drones. Eight search activities were carried out over a period of five months. It was assumed that his absence might have been caused by being caught in an avalanche.

Sands’ family reported him missing on January 13 in the evening; they had last spoken to him in the Baldy Bowl region of the San Gabriel Mountains, which are located north of Los Angeles. On the 15th, cellular signals showed that Sands was still in motion. After his vehicle was discovered close to the scene of his disappearance, his family released a statement on January 21 expressing their sorrow and acceptance of his demise.

Julian Sands, a British native who gained popularity for his part in “A Room with a View” in 1985, moved to California in order to further his Hollywood career. He recently made an appearance in the 2019 Malaysian movie “Garden of Evening Mists” and played a teenage Henrik Vanger in the movie “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”
